Meeting with representatives on short courses

The Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control (DCIC) has today Thursday 25th July 2019 held a meeting with representatives from various institutions mostly dealing in short courses such as English proficiency courses. These courses and by extension the institutions are a favourite for foreign students from non-Anglophone countries in the region and beyond. Some of the Institutions present included Kampala Adult School, Institute of Advanced Leadership Uganda, Makland Institute of Business and Management, Sir Nelson School of Languages among others.

The Meeting was chaired by the Commissioner Immigration Control Col. Geoffrey Kambere, and later the Acting Assistant Commissioner, Principal Immigration Officer (PIO) Betty Nasenja. In attendance from DCIC among others was PIO Harriet Mucunguzi and Senior Immigration Officer (SIO) Asha Hussein.

Among issues discussed was streamlining of student pass applications through the institutions to avoid fraudulent applicants and misuse and forgery of these institutions’ documents. Resolutions were arrived at on how to have a proper working relationship going forward that benefits all parties involved and keeps within the set legal parameters.

All student Pass applications are applied for online at www.visas.immigration.go.ug and cost 25USD, 50USD and 100USD all money paid in the bank after approval for 3 months, 6 months and one year respectively.
